Our Story

Founded in the 18th century by Oluwo Nla—warrior, Ifa priest, and Alade of Idoluwo-Ile—the Obanikoro dynasty emerged as a pillar of Lagosian governance. Through bravery and wisdom, Oluwo Nla earned the chieftaincy title Obanikoro from the Oba of Benin, securing his family’s place among the revered Ogalade chiefs.

Key Milestones

  • 1861: Chief Kumeifo signs the Treaty of Cession, shaping Lagos’ colonial trajectory.
  • 1909: Supreme Court victory reclaims ancestral lands (Idoluwo-Ile, Ishagira).
