Obanikoro of Lagos and Idoluwole
In the 18th century, Oluwo Nla—warrior, Ifa priest, and Alade of Idoluwo-Ile—answered the Oba of Benin’s call. His mastery of Ifa divination saved the Oba’s heir, earning him the title Obanikoro and the right to beat the royal Gbedu drum.Important Milestones
- 1861: Chief Kumeifo signs the Treaty of Cession.
- 1909: Supreme Court victory reclaims ancestral lands.

Current Titleholder: HRH Chief Adesoji Ajayi-Bembe
Born in Lagos in 1965, Chief Adesoji Ajayi-Bembe ascended the stool in 2010. A champion of youth education, he spearheads Project Greenfield to sustainably develop ancestral lands.
